Meet;Jennifer;Ames;Chicago... and see what they love about the Windy City

I have been sailing since I was
10 years old, and Chicago is
my favorite sailing spot. I had
a 1971 47-foot Tartan, “Clare,”
and Sunday mornings began at
the Yacht Club with blueberry
pancakes freshly prepared in
my galley. Then, with classical
music playing softly on deck
I would cast off and set sail
northeast. I would turn on the
autopilot, lie on the deck, and
stare up at the beautiful skyline.
Someday I’ll share this with my
son, Henry.

As a kid, I loved spending time at the Lincoln Park
Zoo and visiting museums. To this day, there is
nothing;like;walking;through;the;German;U505
submarine at the Museum of Science and Industry,
seeing the sharks circling in Shedd Aquarium’s gi-
ant coral reef exhibit, visiting Egyptian mummies
at the Field Museum, or contemplating Impression-
ism at The Art Institute. I am most excited to see my
children’s eyes light up as they too discover these
priceless experiences in our own “backyard.”

Named by Esquire as one of the best bars in America, Wicker Park’s
Violet Hour is my favorite spot in the city for sophisticated cocktails. Step through the unmarked door on Damen and you are
greeted by a posh lounge with a 1920s speakeasy feel. Additionally,
not just a rapid transit system, the El is like an architectural tour
during my daily commute. The Harold Washington Library, The
Art Institute of Chicago and the Willis Tower are all steps away. My
favorite stop is the Madison Brown Line, where I met my fiancé.
